Personalized Web Settings using JAWS
To set temporary PlaceMarkers:
- Open the Web page for which you want to set PlaceMarkers.
- Move to the location, where you want to set PlaceMarker.
- Press Ctrl + K to set a temporary PlaceMarker.
JAWS enables you to set only one temporary PlaceMarker for a Web page. However you can move to another location on the Web page and set the next temporary PlaceMarker, but the previously set temporary PlaceMarker will get overwritten.
Only the last temporary PlaceMarker being set before exiting the Web page is saved.
To set permanent PlaceMarkers:
- Open the Web page for which you want to set PlaceMarkers.
- Move to the location, where you want to set PlaceMarker.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + K to open the PlaceMarker list dialog box.
- Click the Add button. The Add PlaceMarker dialog box appears.
- Type the name for your PlaceMarker in the Name edit field and click OK
You can also share your PlaceMarker information. The PlaceMarker information is saved under the JAWS\settings\enu folder with the .pmi file extension.
The .pmi file contains the filename of the Web page for which PlaceMarker is set. For example, if you have set PlaceMarkers on Net Systems Informatics Website, they will be saved with the filename www.n-syst.com.pmi.
When the settings packager is used to share PlaceMarker information, JAWS will ask you to provide description for PlaceMarkers. You can press the Skip button, to close the Add PlaceMarker Description dialog, if you are not willing to provide description.
